Meanwhile, Celeste was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 58-53 to Tom Bean. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tomcats 9-2 in the first quarter.

Sam Rayburn's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Celeste, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.

Sam Rayburn didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Celeste in their previous matchup on January 2nd, but they still walked away with a 57-53 win. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
