Softball Preview: Owensboro Catholic Aces vs. Fern Creek Tigers        
        
		
            The Owensboro Catholic Aces will venture away from home to  take on the Fern Creek Tigers  at 9:00  a.m.  on Thursday. Fern Creek took a loss in their last  contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Owensboro Catholic, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with three  losses in a row, Owensboro Catholic  turned things around against Springfield  on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of  6-3.
 Hannah Robbins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for  her.

 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Tyranda Stuart, who  went 3-for-4 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  double. Those  three  hits gave  her a new career-high.  Gracie Dukate also deserves some recognition as  she  brought in her first  RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Fern Creek came up short against Reavis on Wednesday and fell  7-3. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Lakelyn Maloney made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Charlotte Brown, who  went 2-for-4 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  double.
 Fern Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Owensboro Catholic,  the  win  got them back to even at 4-4.
 Owensboro Catholic skirted past Fern Creek  4-3 in their previous matchup  back in May of 2016. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aces since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
