Softball Recap: Linden Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Linden hadn't done well against Calaveras recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Red Hawks. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Katie Schallberger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Linden's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Pitt, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Linden's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Calaveras, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.

Coming up, Linden will square off against Big Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Linden's pitchers better be ready for this one: Big Valley Christian has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Calaveras, they will take on Bret Harte at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bullfrogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Red Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
