Baseball Recap: Westmont Hilltop Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forest Hills, Westmont Hilltop was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Ferndale Yellow Jackets a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hilltoppers considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Aiden Kohan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Westmont Hilltop is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Bryce Goodman was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Westmont Hilltop's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Anthony Oakley was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Westmont Hilltop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Westmont Hilltop's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10. As for Ferndale, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
