Recap: Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes vs. Alcovy Tigers
The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. The New Year welcomed they with a 63-25 whooping from Alcovy. Monroe Area lost against Alcovy in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-50 score last time.
Kendall Banks was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 0 assists for Alcovy. The contest was Banks' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Janae Hutcherson, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Monroe Area's loss dropped their record down to 1-9-1. As for Alcovy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-7.
Monroe Area will head out on the road to face off against Jasper County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jasper County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Alcovy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lovejoy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
