Softball Recap: Madison Bobcats vs. Rigby Trojans
Madison had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-13 to make it five. They came up short against the Rigby Trojans, falling 11-5. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-3 loss on Tuesday.
As for Rigby, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games.
For Rigby's part, Traylee Reid was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Reid has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Maggie Stowell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 7th. Izzy Reeves also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Madison is set to face off against their familiar foe Thunder Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Rigby will take on rival Highland at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
