Softball Recap: Doane Academy Gets the Win

While Doane Academy's win against Burlington City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Doane Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over Burlington City on Friday. The win continues a trend for Doane Academy in their matchups with Burlington City: they've now won four in a row.

Camryn Derhofer was incredible, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brielle Perry, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Doane Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Doane Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Burlington City, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Doane Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Medford Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Burlington City, they will head out to square off against STEMCivics at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
