Two dominant signal callers in Garrison Edwards and Nicholas Wells are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Troup County Tigers will host the Upson-Lee Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Troup County's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Troup County barely beat Fayette County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Troup County claimed a resounding 44-0 victory over Fayette County. Troup County's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Troup County's win last Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Davis Moncus, who picked up 43 receiving yards and two TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Javarris Warner, who rushed for 57 yards and one score.
Troup County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Another reason for the win was Troup County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Monyah Johnson and Jeremiah Culpepper, who racked up four sacks between them. Culpepper is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Upson-Lee ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Mary Persons 17-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since November 1, 2024.

Upson-Lee's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Troup County, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Troup County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 275.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Upson-Lee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 178 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Troup County came up short against Upson-Lee in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 33-27. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wells, who rushed for 78 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 163 yards and one TD. Now that the Tigers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
