Basketball Recap: Triangle Math & Science Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Triangle Math & Science Academy played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 73-42 loss at the hands of the Voyager Academy Vikings. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

Jailen Hawkins and Ayyoub Baianonie certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hawkins posted 17 points and six boards, while Baianonie had nine points.

Voyager Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian Quinones out in front who put up nine points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Darin Jones was another key player, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Triangle Math & Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Voyager Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Triangle Math & Science Academy and East Wake Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Voyager Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against West Carteret at 1:30 p.m. on the 29th. The Vikings will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
