Basketball Recap: Meadville Bulldogs vs. North East Grape Pickers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meadville). They breezed by the North East Grape Pickers to the tune of 78-48 on Saturday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-24.

Meadville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Luteran, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Luteran's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Burchard, who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten boards, and nine assists.
Meadville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meadville's record is now 5-0. As for North East, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Meadville will head out to square off against Oil City at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Oil City has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 193 points over their last three contests. As for North East, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cathedral Prep at 2:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
