Baseball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Foothill Falcons

For the second straight game, Basic will face off against Foothill. The Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Basic is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Basic is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Foothill with a sharp 19-6 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Wolves have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Matthew Kelley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Dallon Cegavske was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Andruw Giles was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

Basic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Basic, their win bumped their record up to 17-8.
