Basketball Recap: Fernley Takes Down Hug in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Fernley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They enjoyed a cozy 57-38 win over the Hug Hawks on Monday. The Vaqueros pushed the score to 44-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hawks cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fernley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taylor Tollestrup, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Tollestrup has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaelece Wasson, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 13 points.

Fernley was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Fernley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Hug, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Coming up, Fernley will challenge North Valleys at 6:20 p.m. on Friday. North Valleys will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Fernley surely won't give up without a fight. Hug does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
