Softball Recap: Haverford Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Haverford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Archbishop Carroll Patriots. The Fords haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Ali Daly spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Kelly Shindler was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Brenna Carfrey was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Haverford's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Haverford and Archbishop Carroll will both be playing Conestoga the next time they take the field. Archbishop Carroll will head out to face Conestoga at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, while Haverford will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
