Preview: Center Grove Trojans vs. Lawrence North Wildcats
Center Grove has been on the road for four straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Lawrence North Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. Center Grove has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, Center Grove was fully in charge, breezing past Martinsville 58-25 on the road. Given Center Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Martinsville is ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Center Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Audrey Annee led the charge by scoring 20 points. The game was Annee's third in a row with at least ten points. Aubrie Booker was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Lawrence North has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Warren Central with a sharp 66-44 victory on Friday.
Center Grove's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21 points. As for Lawrence North, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Center Grove strolled past Lawrence North when the teams last played back in January of 2022 by a score of 52-36. Will Center Grove repeat their success, or does Lawrence North have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
