Softball Recap: Fairfax Comes Up Short

Fairfax came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. The Stampede were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2016.

Alexa Quiroz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lily Fryberger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Fairfax is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3. As for Bourgade Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfax will take on Alhambra at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Bourgade Catholic, they will square off against Gilbert Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something Bourgade Catholic will no doubt try to take advantage of.
