Softball Recap: Murdock Takes a Loss

Murdock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 6-3 to the Ayer Shirley Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-7 on Wednesday.

Kassandra Santos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Mya McDermott was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Holly Harris also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Murdock's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Ayer Shirley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murdock will head out to face off against Tahanto Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ayer Shirley, they will venture away from home to take on Gardner at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
