Basketball Game Preview: Sarasota Sailors vs. North Port Bobcats

Sarasota and North Port are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2019, but not for long. The Sarasota Sailors will face off against the North Port Bobcats on Wednesday. Sarasota knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully North Port likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Sarasota earned a 66-58 win over IMG Academy Gray. Given the Sailors' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Ascenders are ranked 538th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Port walked away with it. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 68-58 on Monday. The Bobcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Sarasota's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.9 points per game. As for North Port, their win bumped their record up to 6-18.

Everything came up roses for Sarasota against North Port in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 73-35 victory. In that match, Sarasota amassed a halftime lead of 42-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
