Baseball Recap: Cerro Gordo/Bement Comes Up Short

If Cerro Gordo/Bement was feeling good fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Blue Ridge last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Broncos came up short against the Cumberland Pirates on Thursday, falling 9-1. The Broncos have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Cerro Gordo/Bement's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Cumberland, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cerro Gordo/Bement will head out to face off against Villa Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cumberland, they will take on Casey-Westfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
