Baseball Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. St. Mary's Knights

The Mesquite Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Mary's Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mesquite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Mesquite beat Estrella Foothills 8-5. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Jacob Hogan was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kash Rogers was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's hadn't done well against Mesquite recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Knights narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wildcats 3-2.

St. Mary's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Javier Romero, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

St. Mary's has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Mesquite, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
