Softball Recap: Oak Park-River Forest Takes Down Berwyn/Cicero Morton in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Oak Park-River Forest walked away with it. They didn't even let the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs on the board on Friday, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. Considering the Huskies have won 18 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Oak Park-River Forest got a massive performance out of Julia Mattiace, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles Mattiace has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyssa Hasapis, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oak Park-River Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive contests.

Oak Park-River Forest has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-14.

Oak Park-River Forest has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 win against Lane Tech on the 3rd. Berwyn/Cicero Morton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
