Softball Recap: Chavez Comes Up Short

After flying high against Poly on Friday, Chavez came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the San Fernando Tigers by a score of 12-10 on Monday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Alyssa Anaya stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Vida Gomez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Chavez now has a losing record of 12-13. As for San Fernando, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-15.

Looking ahead, Chavez will take on Kennedy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for San Fernando, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Verdugo Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
