Baseball Game Preview: Biggsville West Central Heat vs. Monmouth United Red Storm

Biggsville West Central is 0-10 against Monmouth United since April of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Heat will take on the Red Storm at 4:00 p.m.

Biggsville West Central is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of West Prairie.

Biggsville West Central saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Gibb, who went 2-for-4 with one double. That double was Gibb's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Monmouth United earned an 8-5 victory over Stark County on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Storm.

Elliott Copeland was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Nolan Jenks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Monmouth United pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Biggsville West Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Biggsville West Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Monmouth United struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Biggsville West Central suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Monmouth United in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Heat avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
