Baseball Game Preview: South Bend Washington Panthers vs. Mishawaka Marian Knights

South Bend Washington is 0-8 against Mishawaka Marian since May of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when South Bend Washington took on South Bend Riley on Saturday. The Panthers blew past the Wildcats 11-5. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Mishawaka Marian was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Jimtown by a score of 9-6.

The team relied heavily on Ryne O'Hara, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Mishawaka Marian is 2-1 when O'Hara posts one or more home runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Evan Maloney also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

South Bend Washington's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Mishawaka Marian, their record now sits at 5-6.

South Bend Washington might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Mishawaka Marian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
