Football Recap: Anselmo-Merna Skates Past Palmer with Ease

Anselmo-Merna entered their tilt with Palmer on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Tigers 56-8. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-0.

Dane Duryea had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 126 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries. What's more, he racked up 137.5 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Timmy Myers was another key player, gaining 96 total yards and a touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Anselmo-Merna proved: they limited Palmer to a paltry 0.8 yards per carry. Anselmo-Merna's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.72 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.7 on average over their last five games.

Anselmo-Merna's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jarrett Wells and Tate Seevers, who racked up four sacks between them.

Anselmo-Merna's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Palmer, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
