Basketball Recap: Albert Lea Comes Up Short

Albert Lea was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 71-44 loss at the hands of the Northfield Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while the Raiders are ranked 89th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kate Sand, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. Callie Lynch was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 16 points and four steals.

Albert Lea's defeat dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Northfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Albert Lea is taking a road trip to take on Faribault at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Faribault will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Albert Lea surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northfield, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-42 win against Richfield on the 15th.
