Basketball Recap: Northfield's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Northfield won the last time they faced Denver South, and Judah Michael did his part to make sure it happened again. The Northfield Nighthawks managed a 69-65 win over the Denver South Ravens on Friday thanks in part to Michael, who posted 16 points along with seven boards and six assists. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Daizhon Walker was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds. Those six boards gave him a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Denver South still got an impressive performance from Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who put up 23 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Rhoades-Martinez, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Northfield and bumps their season record up to 10-4. As for Denver South, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 10-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northfield will take on Denver East at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Northfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Denver East likes a good challenge. As for Denver South, they will face off against George Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.9 points per game this season.
