Soccer Game Preview: Bishop Rosecrans vs. Licking Valley

The Bishop Rosecrans Bishops will head out to take on the Licking Valley Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bishop Rosecrans has six straight victories, Licking Valley has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

If Bishop Rosecrans beats Licking Valley with four goals on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Bishops were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Logan Elm on Wednesday. Considering Bishop Rosecrans have won seven matches by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Licking Valley fell victim to Granville and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Blue Aces, falling 11-0. While losing is never fun, Licking Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 418th, while Granville are ranked 115th).

Licking Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for Bishop Rosecrans, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Everything went Bishop Rosecrans' way against Licking Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Bishop Rosecrans made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bishops since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
