Softball Recap: Union Triumphs

Union's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Kent Place Dragons. The victory continues a trend for the Farmers in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won four in a row.

Alessandra Silvestre made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Silvestre was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Union let Nevaeh Mendez and Prianna Menendez run wild. Mendez went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base, while Menendez went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Jalah Fenner also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Union kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Union's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Kent Place, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6-1.

Looking ahead, Union will host Oak Knoll at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kent Place, they will venture away from home to take on Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
