Softball Recap: Thunderbird Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Thunderbird came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Goldwater Bulldogs by a score of 6-2. That's more bragging rights for the Titans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Addison Hodge and Alicia Flores made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hodge didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Flores pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Hodge a new career-high. At bat, Hodge got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Flores went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Catarina Beams was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenli Flores, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Thunderbird's record now sits at 9-4. As for Goldwater, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Thunderbird didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-3 victory against Marcos de Niza on the 31st. Hopefully Goldwater paid attention to the Titans' game: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
