Baseball Recap: Burke Drops Season-High Score on Benson

Burke came into Tuesday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Benson Bunnies with a sharp 24-0 win on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kyle Tipler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Burke: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-15 otherwise.

In other batting news, Alec Carlson and Tanner Pickett did most of the damage at the plate: Carlson went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Pickett went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Carlson a new career-high. Rigley Renbarger was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Burke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Burke's record now sits at 5-15. As for Benson, they are on a 36-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
