Softball Game Preview: West Valley Eagles vs. University Prep Panthers

The West Valley Eagles will face off against the University Prep Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.

West Valley will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Etna on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 19-8 margin over the Lions. The Eagles have beaten the Lions the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lions has come to flipping the script.

Kylee Jaramillo was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Pemberton, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

West Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, University Prep posted their closest victory since April 18, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Fernley 3-2.

Hailey Pebley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madisyn Rubalcava, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

The win got University Prep back to even at 10-10-2. As for West Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
