Preview: Johnson City Wildcats vs. Windsor Central Black Knights

The Johnson City Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Windsor Central Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

After soaring to 59 points the game before, Johnson City were a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Maine-Endwell, falling 49-6. Johnson City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

Meanwhile, Windsor Central suffered a tough 42-22 loss at the hands of Norwich on Friday.

Windsor Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Mccombs, who rushed for 189 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and Ashton Werner who rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Mccombs really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run.

The losses dropped Johnson City to 2-5 and Windsor Central to 6-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Johnson City has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 151.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Windsor Central struggles in that department as they've been even better at 267.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Johnson City lost to Windsor Central at home by a decisive 40-26 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Johnson City have more luck at home instead of on the road?
