Recap: Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans vs. San Carlos Braves
The Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 86-56 victory over San Carlos. The win was just what Leading Edge Academy - GEC needed coming off of a 78-45 defeat in their prior game.
Malachi Graham-Morrow was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Mateo Bynum, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leandro Simbolo, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Simbolo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leshawn Browning, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Leading Edge Academy - GEC has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for San Carlos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-10.
Leading Edge Academy - GEC does not have any more games scheduled as of now. San Carlos won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gilbert Classical Academy at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Gilbert Classical Academy is ranked 226th, while San Carlos is ranked 206th).
