Basketball Recap: Florida Prep Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Florida Prep couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were dealt a 74-33 defeat at the hands of the North Tampa Christian Academy Titans on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Titans are ranked 27th).

Toni Bryant was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 11 boards for North Tampa Christian Academy. Bryant's evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Sanders, who went 7-for-8 to rack up 14 points.

Florida Prep's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Florida Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, they will square off against Legacy Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. North Tampa Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Legacy Charter likes a good challenge.
