Recap: Northern Patriots vs. Leonardtown Raiders
It was a good run, but the Northern Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They suffered a rough 52-32 defeat at the hands of Leonardtown. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northern in their matchups with Leonardtown: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Northern still got an impressive performance from Haley Longfellow, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Marvray, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Leonardtown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teonne Thomas, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Weller, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and seven blocks.
Northern's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Leonardtown, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Northern will be playing at home against McDonough at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Leonardtown, they will head out on the road to face off against King's Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Leonardtown is coming into the game with five straight wins on the road, so King's Christian Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
