Volleyball Recap: Troy Trojans vs. Loveland Tigers
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Troy can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Loveland Tigers on Saturday. The shutout was out of character for the Trojans seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.
While Troy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Loveland's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-15, 25-18.
Troy's offense was headlined by
Sophie Michalos and
Sydney Astor, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from
Julia Kirner and her four assists.
Lauren Koesters controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Loveland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hannah Drach, who had five aces. That's the most aces Drach has posted since back in September of 2023.
The defeat snapped Troy's winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 14-10 record. As for Loveland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.
Troy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Loveland, they are on the road again on Thursday to play Worthington Kilbourne at 6:00 p.m. Worthington Kilbourne will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Loveland surely won't give up without a fight.
