Basketball Game Preview: Leadore Mustangs vs. Mackay Miners

After both having extra time off, the Leadore Mustangs and the Mackay Miners will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mackay took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Leadore, who comes in off a win.

Leadore took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They came out on top against Non Varsity Opponent by a score of 52-45.

Leadore found their leader in sophomore Dane Piippo, who shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Piippo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Ramsey, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 58 points the game before, Mackay was a bit more limited in their contest last Saturday. They were dealt a 74-23 defeat at the hands of Rockland. The Miners have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Mackay's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-3. As for Leadore, the win also got them back to even at 3-3.

Leadore came up short against Mackay when the teams last played on December 12th, falling 50-40. Can Leadore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
