Basketball Recap: Houston Falls Short Against Ranked Southwind

On Friday, Houston faced Southwind in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Houston Mustangs took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southwind Jaguars. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 56-50.

Kristopher Carrol had an outrageously good game for Southwind as he went 7-for-9 en route to 22 points and five boards. What's more, Carrol also posted a 78% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ronald Towns, who posted ten points and five assists.

Houston's loss dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Southwind, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.

Houston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southwind, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars face off against the Tigers at 4:55 p.m. on Saturday. Whitehaven will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Southwind surely won't give up without a fight.
