Softball Game Preview: Skyline Spartans vs. Skyview Storm

The Skyline Spartans will challenge the Skyview Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Skyline sitting on six straight victories and Skyview on three.

Skyline is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Redmond, who was ranked fourth at the time (Skyline was ranked fifth). The Spartans walked away with an 8-3 win over the Mustangs on Thursday.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Skyview and Prairie, and Skyview kept the tradition alive. The Storm narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Falcons 1-0.

The result came thanks to Maddie Milhorn's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Skyview's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Lies, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Skyview's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Skyline, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
