Softball Recap: Fort Payne Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Fort Payne took on Madison County on Saturday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Ava McGinnis was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fort Payne has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Madison County, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-10.

Looking ahead, Fort Payne will host Skyline at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison County, they will take on Cullman in a tournament on Saturday.
