Softball Game Preview: Birdville Hawks vs. Aledo Bearcats

The Birdville Hawks will head out to square off against the Aledo Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Birdville's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Aledo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Birdville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Abilene a 4-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Meanwhile, Aledo came tearing into Wednesday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Sandies. That's two games straight that the Bearcats have won by exactly 11 runs.

KYLEIGH PAWLAK was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of MARINA TAVERAS, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Aledo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Aledo pushed their record up to 28-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Birdville, their record now sits at 30-4.
