Football Recap: Covington-Douglas Keeps Garber's Under Pressure

After soaring to 44 points the game before, Covington-Douglas was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (44-6), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against the Wolverines since September 4, 2015.

Even if they lost, Covington-Douglas' defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Hayden Willard, Braden Thayer, and Monte Mcreynolds, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Aiden Johnson was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 105 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Don Choate was in the mix too, providing Garber with one touchdown.

Covington-Douglas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Garber, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Covington-Douglas has already played their next contest, a 48-0 victory against Canton on the 3rd. As for Garber, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Pioneer-Pleasant Vale at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Wolverines will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.4 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
