Charter Oak waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Colony Titans as they made off with a 31-6 win. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Titans are ranked 374th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charter Oak's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corin Berry, who threw for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 36 yards and one TD. The Chargers also got a significant boost from Torry Huff, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 127 yards.

Charter Oak's defense stepped up as well, laying out Aiden Hill four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Charter Oak got some further help from Jacob Martinez: he picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Charter Oak's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Colony, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Charter Oak will face off against rival Bonita at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Chargers 14.6, the Bearcats 11.7) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Colony is set to square off against their familiar foe Claremont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
