Basketball Game Preview: Chaparral Lobos vs. Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls

Chaparral hasn't had much luck against Carlsbad recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Chaparral Lobos will be playing at home against the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls at 2:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Chaparral needed a bit of extra time to put away Mesilla Valley Christian School. They pulled ahead with a 53-52 photo finish over the SonBlazers. The win almost wasn't to be: the Lobos were down 34-19 in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad didn't have too much trouble with Goddard on Thursday as they won 53-39. Given the Cavemen/Cavegirls' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Rockets are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carlsbad's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Chaparral, their win bumped their record up to 5-13.
