Baseball Recap: Oxford Takes a Loss

Oxford lost against Thompson back in February of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Oxford Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Thompson Warriors by a score of 5-4. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oxford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Richardson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Richardson has posted since back in March of 2024. Charlie Maniscalco was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Oxford now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Thompson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Oxford will head out on the road to square off against Hokes Bluff at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Thompson, they will challenge UMS-Wright Prep at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
