Football Game Preview: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars vs. Legacy Longhorns

The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Legacy Longhorns at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pinecrest Academy Cadence will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 34-0 win over Amplus Academy. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

A big part of Pinecrest Academy Cadence's victory came down to the chemistry between Leyton Gasperosky and her top target Patricia Monacelli. Gasperosky threw for 193 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of her passes while Monacelli picked up 117 receiving yards and three touchdowns. That's the most receiving touchdowns Monacelli has posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Legacy faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Legacy fell just short of Green Valley by a score of 24-21. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.8 points. As for Legacy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence came up short against Legacy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 33-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Legacy's Karina Alfaro, who threw for 247 yards and four touchdowns.
