Recap: College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals vs. Bethany Wolves
The College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-59 to Bethany. Even though they lost, College Prep & Leadership Academy's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 54 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
College Prep & Leadership Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aloni Rutledge, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. MacKenzie Dumbuya was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five steals.
Even though they lost, College Prep & Leadership Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethany only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Bethany was led to victory by Leah Denny and Cheyenne Hollifield. Denny scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Hollifield scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Denny. Another player making a difference was Mattie Southard, who scored 11 points.
College Prep & Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Bethany, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. College Prep & Leadership Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Carver at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bethany will be home for the holidays to greet Morehead at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Morehead is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
