Soccer Recap: Gateway Falls Short of Immokalee in the Playoffs

Gateway and Immokalee squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Gateway had to settle for second. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Immokalee Indians who were credited with the victory. The Immokalee Indians got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Gateway Eagles' two. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Their goal came courtesy of Thiago Italia, which was the first he's scored this season.

Gateway moved to 14-7-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Immokalee, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4-1.

Gateway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Immokalee, they will face off against Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Charlotte's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
