Football Game Preview: Palisades Dolphins vs. Garfield Bulldogs

After each having a week off, the Palisades Dolphins and the Garfield Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palisades is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

If Garfield heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Palisades took over last week. The Dolphins came out on top against Fairfax by a score of 40-33 two weeks ago. Given the Dolphins' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Lions are ranked 722nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palisades to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Thomas, who threw for 386 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 38 yards and one TD. Malachi Ross also helped out as he racked up 111 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Garfield took their game two weeks ago with ease, bagging a 41-14 win over Eagle Rock. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Palisades better keep an eye on Angel Jimenez. He was instrumental in Garfield's win, rushing for 82 yards and one score.

Palisades' record now sits at 10-0. As for Garfield, their record is now 8-2.

Everything went Palisades' way against Garfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as Palisades made off with a 23-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dolphins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
