Meanwhile, St. Monica entered their tilt with Mary Star of the Sea on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Stars a 4-0 shutout. Give the Mariners' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

They hit Mary Star of the Sea with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Giovannie Sotomayor (2), Alex Jurado, and Nicholas Barillas.

The victory got St. Monica back to even at 3-3-2. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4-1.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary skirted past St. Monica 2-1 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
